QuickBooks Statement Writer

QuickBooks Statement Writer (QSW) was a financial reporting tool that was previously available in QuickBooks Desktop versions for accountants and businesses. It allowed users to create and customize financial statements, reports, and other financial documents directly within QuickBooks Desktop. However, as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, QuickBooks Statement Writer has been replaced by a different feature called “QuickBooks Desktop Advanced Reporting” in some QuickBooks Desktop versions. Here is an overview of both QuickBooks Statement Writer and QuickBooks Desktop Advanced Reporting:

1. QuickBooks Statement Writer (QSW):

  • Purpose: QSW was primarily used for creating and customizing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and more.
  • Features:
    • User-friendly interface: QSW provided a user-friendly interface for designing and editing financial statements.
    • Customization: Users could customize the layout, fonts, colors, and content of financial statements to match their specific needs.
    • Integration: QSW seamlessly integrated with QuickBooks Desktop, allowing users to pull financial data directly from their company file.
    • Live data links: Changes made in QSW were reflected in real-time, ensuring that the financial statements always showed up-to-date information.
    • Export options: Users could export financial statements to various formats, including PDF and Excel.

2. QuickBooks Desktop Advanced Reporting:

  • Purpose: QuickBooks Desktop Advanced Reporting is designed to provide more advanced and customizable reporting options for QuickBooks Desktop users.
  • Features:
    • Custom reporting: Users can create custom reports from scratch or modify existing reports to suit their needs.
    • Advanced filtering: It offers robust filtering options to refine report data.
    • Custom fields: Users can incorporate custom fields and formulas into reports for added flexibility.
    • Data connections: Advanced Reporting can connect to external data sources for more comprehensive reporting.
    • Export options: Reports can be exported in various formats, including Excel, PDF, and CSV.
